This place and staff are amazing, knowledgeable, and personable! I enjoy my visits and the exercises/stretches they recommend I do at home until my next session.
Infrared Sauna
Washington, D.C., Infrared Sauna
Experience the amazing body detox and relaxing after-effect of a session in our infrared sauna. Whether a professional athlete or weekend warrior, you’ll leave with less pain and soreness and a glow from ridding your body of toxins.
What’s Different About an Infrared Sauna?
In a traditional sauna, you sit in an enclosure, and the air around you is heated to between 150 and 180 degrees.
An infrared sauna uses infrared lamps to warm your body directly, and the air around you is a lower temperature—typically between 120 and 140 degrees.
What Can It Do for Me?
You get the same type of benefits you would from a traditional sauna:
- Detoxification
- Relaxation
- Sore muscle relief
- Joint pain relief
- Improved circulation
- Better sleep
What’s It Like Inside an Infrared Sauna?
Each session is between 30-60 minutes long, and you’ll sweat quite a lot as your body heats up and the detox takes place. You might feel hotter than you would in a traditional sauna. It’s also not uncommon for people to continue to sweat for a short time after they leave the infrared sauna.
Infrared Sauna Q&A
Yes, infrared saunas are safe for most people who are in average health, just like traditional saunas. However, if you’re on medication, have a medical condition, or have an implanted medical device, we advise you to speak with your healthcare provider first.
It depends on your individual needs—we can help you identify a routine that works for you and your goals. Many people incorporate the infrared sauna as a regular part of their recovery plan.
We do not have a shower in our facility, and we actually recommend you don’t shower immediately after your session. That’s because your body will continue to sweat out toxins and burn calories for about a half hour to an hour while your body cools down.
Yes! During a 30-minute session in an infrared sauna, you can burn between 400 and 600 calories.
